Y’all should already know what happens when emcee Blu and producer extraordinaire Exile get together. Pure hip-hop magic, is what. Stream the freshly dropped unmixed and unmastered 2009 project, Give Me My Flowers While I Can Smell Them below. Exile, you a fool for that Mr. Rogers sample!
Los Angeles beat king Exile has recently teamed up with LRG to bring you his entirely self-produced Into To The Outro. If you’re a fan of modern hip-hop, you should already know what to expect from the veteran; solid and crisp, no filler instrumentals usually accompanied by hand-picked emcees of decent caliber. Spitting over some of the tracks: Fashawn, Blu, MF DOOM, Bun B, amongst many more. 4 TRK MIND, Exile’s latest full-length record is set for release on October 4.
Make no mistake about it, 2011 has ushered in a few of Alf Alpha‘s most crowning achievements of his career. With performances spanning across both Friday and Saturday of the three-day Coachella Festival, the young artist has added some of his most defining moments under his belt. Watch Alf Alpha‘s interview with CBS below, as well as a few short snippets of his rafter-shaking set in the massive Sahara Tent at Coachella.
The official Coachella 2011 line-up was released late Tuesday night. I am pleased to announce that I (Alf Alpha) will be ple’y the festival on Saturday. I have been attending Coachella since I was 15 years old and have never missed a year. This festival has been a major influence on me and was one of my sources of inspiration to pursue my musical career . I had always looked forward to one day spinning at the festival and now that day has arrived. I’m honored to have been asked to perform this year and become the 1st solo artist from the Coachella Valley to perform at the festival. Thank you to all my friends that have supported me and helped me achieve this amazing goal. WE DID IT! I look forward to rocking the stage and partying with all my friends. See you all in April.

In the current inundated rap and hip-hop climate, it’s becoming an increasingly problematic task to find dope music devoid of over-production and abusive pitch correction. We live in a time in which the scene has become over-saturated by cats whom don’t quite understand that imitation is not necessarily the most sincere form of flattery. A rare commodity is that of the independent and original path-blazing artist. Enter Coachella Valley native and long-time DJ/innovative producer Rafael Lopez (a.k.a. Alf Alpha). Having performed with countless notable artists such as Exile, Peanut Butter Wolf, DJ Day and Z-Trip (to name but a few), being recognized and covered by the revered Wax Poetics magazine and seeing wide release of his debut record Jump Wildly About in Japan, Alf Alpha has made a name for himself as both an accomplished songwriter and jumpin’ party-rocker. Now, with a new 42-track beat tape in tow, it would be in your best interest to get familiar with the beat maestro as he makes big moves into the new year.
Citing a broad spectrum of influences ranging widely from funk, jazz, soul, R&B, house, disco and hip-hop, Alf Alpha’s catalog of music is reflective of his eclectic tastes and style. He Pley So Good can be approached as an anthology, of sorts, of Alf Alpha’s work; a testament that encapsulates the artist’s ever-progressing production career and exploration of his own ‘California desert sound’. As such, listeners will find themselves fully immersed in a aurally-pleasing world of space-y head-nodders (‘Only When I Dream’, ‘Space Love’, ‘More Kisses’), ’70s/’80s time-travel (‘DJ Keep Pleyin’, ‘Mellow Ace’, ‘Keep Dreamin’) and even desert-cruising (‘Come With Me’, ‘Dance With Karma’, ‘Two Turntables’). This timeless collection is one for the archives, friends.

Los Angeles Native, Exile is a master on the MPC and incorporates samples from a large spectrum of music genres. He is responsible for producing some my favorite albums within the last few years, Anon and On, Dirty Science, Below the Heavens and the most recent release Radio Exile.
I included a Exile Mix which features one of his MPC freestyle sessions.. JustNasty… enjoY
Evidence dropped another track off of his upcoming project, Evidence Radio. Using another beat produced by Exile, Evidence brings a presence only he has. Start your weekend right and pick up this track from one of LA’s finest.
So you’ve probably noticed a great deal of Exile jocking on the site… yes, well as long as we continue to dig up great tunes and media files, and as long as they are straight buttery… the posts will continue…
A mix of original beats and sounds Exile did for B.B.C.’s Marry Anne Hobbs was unearthed over at OKP, giving it a couple of listens I absolutely had to share it with you. There are some beats in here that certainly put that stank on your face. It runs about 15 minutes long and is about 20 mb, hit the links below for the download.
