Friendly Fires – Live Those Days Tonight [Mp3]

Posted on March 24, 2011 by Andrew

It’s been a hot minute since the English dance-punk outfit Friendly Fires were blazing their way through the festival circuit and internet. Their 2008 self-titled debut album brought along with it much critical acclaim and a bevy of cute hipster girls dancing along to their upbeat ditties the world over. “Live Those Days Tonight” is the first single off of the band’s upcoming album, Pala, serving as positive indication of the band’s polished songwriting and at the same time, building on the sound that garnered them attention on the outset. Metronomy – The Look [Music Video + Mp3]

Posted on March 23, 2011 by Andrew

The English Riviera is the third studio full-length of England based electro pop outfit, Metronomy. The band (know mostly for frontman Joseph Mount’s prolific dance remixes) explores some new territory on the record with added members drummer Anna Prior and bassist Gibenga Adelekan (both formerly of Lightspeed Champion), edging further away from its electronic-focused beginnings. Watch the quirky music video for the first synth-driven single “The Look” here:

Lykke Li – I Know Places [Video + Mp3]

Posted on March 16, 2011 by Andrew

Having avoided the deadly sophomore slump completely, Swedish indie darling Lykke Li has shown on her latest record Wounded Rhymes that she’s got more up her sleeve than just catchy dance pop tunes and live covers of classic hip-hop joints. Check out the singer-songwriter’s latest video for the track “I Know Places,” an appropriate visual accompaniment to a hauntingly beautiful song.

Bibio – Mind Bokeh [Album Sampler]

Posted on January 14, 2011 by Andrew

Mind Bokeh is British electronic producer Stephen Wilkinson aka Bibio‘s sixth full-length record to be released in March of this year. ‘Bokeh,’ the Japanese term utilized to describe the non-focused portions of a photograph, suits Wilkinson’s sound well. The Warp Records artist has long been making a name for himself in the scene with his distinctive effect-laden guitar and synth experimental pop sound. Check out a short visual accompaniment to the album teaser below as well as the album art and track listing:

Basement Jaxx – Dracula [Mp3]

Posted on December 9, 2010 by Andrew

London-based house duo Basement Jaxx as veterans in the dance music scene have seen their share of trends in the game throughout their 16-year tenure. Their latest track “Dracula” is a good reminder that the electro heads are more than just a certain 90′s one hit wonder. Check out the brooding, choppy track below:

David Lynch – Good Day Today [Stream]

Posted on November 30, 2010 by Andrew

Prominent director and general master-of-everything-creepy, David Lynch, has recently released an electronic single featuring his own production and heavily processed vocals. “Good Day Today” sounds sort of like an unfinished/non-8-bit Crystal Castles tune, but that would perhaps not be giving it enough credit. The famed director of creepy cult classics such as Mulholland Drive and creative partner in Sparklehorse (R.I.P. Mark Linkous) and Danger Mouse’s project Dark Night of the Soul, seemed to have sharpened his chops in the studio and it’s an overall decent minimal electronic track.

Cut Copy – Take Me Over [Stream]

Posted on November 22, 2010 by Andrew

Aussie synthpoppers Cut Copy have been taking a long, well-deserved sabbatical after a good three years of whirlwind touring and constant promoting of their critically acclaimed second record, In Ghost Colours. With the follow-up, Zonoscope, looming on the horizon (with a scheduled release in February), the group has released their second teaser for the upcoming album. “Take Me Over” is a good offering; an infectious electro-infused dance tune incorporating the band’s signature mastery of sing-a-long choruses.
