DJ Quik
Rhythm-al-ism (1998) | 64MB|
Compton’s own DJ Quik has been making great music since he first stepped on the scene back in 1990. His first album the classic Quik Is The Name spawned the great party jam Tonite.
Despite Quik ripping off someone else’s song and claiming credit (Truth Hurts “Addictive” stolen from UMI 10’s Kaaliyon Ka Chaman) through the years Quik has produced a number of good songs. I think most will agree Tony! Toni! Tone! ’s “Let’s Get Down” is classic feel good joint.
This album features appearances by El Debarge, AMG, Playa Hamm, Peter Gunz, HI-C and the return of Second II None.
With strong positive critic reviews and great word of mouth this album still didn’t go platinum. Which is very surprising since many who wouldn’t have thought they would became Quik fans after hearing this release.
I can’t really tell you any standout tracks on this release because every one of the songs is straight goodness. If you don’t have this album in your collection then you collection isn’t complete. This is the real deal: Hip Hop,R & B and G Funk, all combined into greatness.
