Eat At Whitey’s (2000) |100 MB|
The first bonafide White MC with skills. Everlast has had a diverse musical career. From laidback rappin as part of Ice T’s Rhyme Syndicate to reemerging as a hardcore Irish brawler in House Of Pain to folk influenced solo joints to now being a member of La Coka Nostra.
From his early days with Ice T’s Rhyme Syndicate to House Of Pain I always been a fan of Everlast’s. When he changed up his style and fused more folk , pop and rock with Hip Hop some felt it was departure from the “real” Everlast. However I liked the vibe and feel of his new sound.
“It’s like, I’m getting older so let me strip down, let me take some of this armor off and let people look at a human being, a man.”

From his conversion to Islam in 1996 to a life threatening surgery in 1997. It’s only normal for an artist to experience such profound changes in their life and grow musically.
“It’s like, yo, as you get older, things change. Can’t be that same dude forever. I’m not trying to be Keith Richards and just be worn out and torn up at the age of 50. I’m going to slow down, especially when I’ve had health problems and stuff. I’m just trying to slow down and be all I can be for as long as I can be it.”

Mr. White aka Everlast is one of those artists either you’re feel or you’re don’t. Me, personally I’m feelin his music. Though not so much his new album 2008’s Love, War & Ghost Of Whitey Ford
Eat At Whitey’s
Now I have say this is one of my favorite albums. This is Everlast’s third solo album but only his second with the new sound. While his second release Whitney Ford Sings The Blues (1998) contains more of a Hip Hop flavor. This album, as well as Ev’s fourth album White Trash Beautiful (2004) , contains more of mixture of Folk,R & B & Hip Hop.
This cd right here took awhile to gain success but it is definitely something to check. It has laidback folksy vibe but it does have an nice Hip Hop feel to it as well. Which isn’t easy to blend together but Everlast does it perfectly.
Eat At Whitey’s features guest appearances by N’Dea Daveport, Cee lo Green, Warren Hayes, Carlos Santana, B Real, Kurupt and Rahzel.
“I Can’t Move “ is my favorite joint off this release but The Alchemist produced “Deadly Assassins” ft B Real is out of this world as well. My favorite line off Deadly Assassins:
“Word To Rob One he used to like the big ladies” **
The Fred Wreck produced “One,Two” ft Kurupt is one of my favorites on this album as well.
Two other good songs are the incredible sensual tune “Love For Real” ft N’Dea Davenport, formally of the Brand New Heavies and the rock infused downtempo “Babylon Feeling” ft Carlos Santana.
If you’re not an fan of Everlast’s music I would ask why not? As an artist he grows musically and produces quality tunes. So do yourself a favor and check out Eat At Whitey’s as well Everlast’s other albums and I know you won’t be disappointed.
“I’d rather be the best artist that I can be even if that means sometimes taking risks that people don’t get or going against the grain a little bit. I want to leave behind a collection of work that maybe people will talk about you fondly when you’re gone.”
