It’s time to expand your musical appreciation East Of La readers. Good music defies all genres and trends and this GOOD music.

Seal goes back into time with his new album, his sixth in fact, entitled “Soul”. He covers classic soul tunes and he does it incredibly well on this new release. I wasn’t really a Seal fan but after listening to this album I am now and you will become one too. It’s uncanny, marvelous, and  deliciously dope. Trust me by the end of the year they will be many remixes/mash ups to this album.

Seal is a much bigger star in Europe, particularly UK, than in the US but this might be the thing that puts him in the limelight more as a singer. As well as being known by american audiences for much more than being Heidi Klum’s lucky ass husband.

Seal covers Al Green, James Brown, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding ,Teddy Pendergrass and even Deniece Williams songs. Seal not only sings the song in way that pays tribute to the original artists but also allows himself room to express the songs in his own way.

The album’s producer David Foster, unfortunately probably known by more people as Brody Jenner’s step father, did a great job of clinging to the original essence and style of the original songs.

Unless you’re a diehard hardcore thrash or death metal fan you will indeed love this album. Lets’ be honest most music today isn’t worth the $14 - $18 CD price but this is one rare album that is. This is destined to be classic.

The album is already released around the world but isn’t available for the US until November 11th.
