This right here took about 8 months to complete and even now I’m still not happy with it. However it’s time to let it go and move on to something else. There are still some mistakes in this mix but I’m over this project and moving on to Vol 2.
This mix started off as a short 20 minute mix (MJ to Everlast as well as Mya & Jon B) but my computer crashed and I lost all my files. When I got my computer up and running again I moved on to another short mix (Cat Stevens to Flyleaf). After finishing that short mix I decided to make it a little longer and I kept adding songs from R&B and Pop that I liked to that mix. After finishing all of that I figured WTF. So I rerecorded my first mix and used it as my intro of the final mix.
One thing to note,90% of the songs are mp3’s not vinyl records and I don’t have any DVS or any other computer djing program. I beatmatched using Audacity and unlike an old school analog 4 track digital recording is pretty unforgiving. Many things that would be masked by the complete sound of analog is not present with digital software. In other words digital recording sucks. Anyway I hope you like the mix.

The multi-talented British actor/DJ Idris Elba dropped a downtempo Hip Hop track entitled “Same Ish” on to his myspace page recently. I’m sure many will be pleasantly surprised at the quality of his music.
“So buckle up, sit back and open your mind to the sounds of Driis: formidable DJ, talented producer, emotive lyricist and intuitive vocalist.” Idris Elba myspace
Weird, strange, unusual and good. Those words best describe this new single from Turkey’s Azat. If I had categorize this song I would definitely say Trip Hop. Some may even say Hip Hop mixed with Turkish Soul. However ones labels the sound of the song it’s all good.
I’ve seen this on the net a couple of days ago. I was debating with myself whether to post this or not. On one hand I know many EOLA readers would like this but on the other most of these artists I wouldn’t considered anything special. So should I be the one to post this? I guess it doesn’t matter now. Here’s some more Chorizo Funk for those who liked his Crown City Rockers mix.

Producer & member of Jedi Mind Tricks Stoupe The Enemy Of Mankind has a new album “Decalogue” coming out on March 31. The new album will featured Slaine,M.O.P., Saigon, Outerspace, Jus Allah, Block McCloud, the Army of the Pharaohs and Joell Ortiz. This leaked joint off the album featuring NY “mixtape” emcee Joell Ortiz has nice salsa flavor to it. As emcee I don’t necessary believe the hype surrounding Joell but he does has a decent flow. This tune with it’s mixture of salsa and east coast hardcore is a great example of what to expect on Stoupe’s new album.
Now EOLA isn’t back to full capacity just yet there is still some servers issues so I only got a link for ya’ll today. I also dropping two other joints leaked from the album “Transition Of Power” featuring M.O.P.and “Allison James” ft. Slaine.
Its good to be back posting on EOLA. Be patient, our new music server will be up and running within a few. In the mean time, check out the video of The Roots on Jimmy Fallon’s show.
Old School Fresh Duo Nice & Smooth team up with Pac Div to remake “Funky for You” the groups throwback classic from the early 90’s. This track is a part of “Smirnoff’s Signature Mix Series” that pairs 3 iconic acts with 3 emerging ones to create mashups that are reflective of the evolution of hip hop . To Download tracks from Nas + Marsha Ambrosius, Buckshot + Kardinall Offishall visit the Smirnoff Signature Series Website.
Guy Fawkes over at hhhead sent this nice compilation of Nas tunes over to me. This is a perfect download for those who aren’t really aware of microphone legend Nasir Jones.
“Anyway, the concept behind this compilation was to truly take a trip down Memory Lane or take a seat in da park and reminisce on the illustrious career of a hip hop great. So, we took the two best tracks off every Nas album (including Lost Tapes) and added a few pre-Illmatic gems. If you’re a Nas stan like myself, I understand that you may already have every one of these tracks, but still cop it! This sh*t will be the perfect Nas playlist. Trust.” hhhead.com

Philly’s Small Professor has taken Large Professor acapellas from 1991’s Main Source album and produced a nice remix album. How does this match up to the original? I can’t say I never heard the full Main Source album but I do know this a good remix album. Small Pro’s remix “Classic” is incredible!
