Pac Div has been grindin hard on the Los Angeles Hip Hop scene for a minute, sharpening their skills and refining their look, but now it seems as though they have found their sound and their getting a lot of attention! Riding hard on the revival rap steez, they’ve dropped a couple really solid tracks and hitting the internet hard with videos / mixtapes / singles & more.
The Sealed For Freshness Blendtape, is offered in full free and features banger after banger (Don’t be stupid DL this shit now). They’ll be performing a Nooner at U.C. Riverside on April 9th, keep you eyes out for it, it should be fun. Dope downloads follow:
Emcee Blu & DJ/Producer Exile, put together the dopest Hip Hop album of ‘07 that came outta Los Angeles (I would say nationwide, but I’ve re-listened to Black Milk’s “Popular Demand”) . You can buy the album exclusively on iTunes for those interested.
Now comes the new video for one of my favorite tracks off the album “Blu Collar Worker”, I’m throwing in the mp3 + another of my favorite tracks. Get up on this kid, if your feeling it dig into Exile’s catalog aswell (namely “Dirty Science” + Emanon’s “Waiting Room”) .
Just a note to you all: I haven’t been blogging too consistently in the past because these mp3’s were sucking up my poor 15gb’s of bandwidth, that combined with my need to serve you guys mp3’s direct rather than through any annoying ass hosting services like zShare & YouSendIt.
SO! I bought another 400gb of bandwidth which should serve all the shit i want! Other developments are to come soon, been working through Spring Break to develop this blog further. Peace! -Gopi
If your mind is floating on some sort of inebriate, your going to be bouncing off walls with this mix! And if your mind isn’t floating on inebriates, this is the perfect pre-party/pre-club music that you’ve been looking for. Our friend, the L.A. Based, DJ Sleeper throws down over 71 tracks in this 69 minute mix!!! Thats averaging less than 1 minute a track for all you hipsters & hypebeasts that suffer from A.D.D. because your too used to keeping 60k songs in your IPOD! Sleeper is an amazing full package deejay, timing is impeccable, scratches are sharp and the mix just flows.
Hip Hop / Funk / Dance / Electro its all in here, track listing after the jump.
It’s a great thing when a Aussie Producer/DJ can call himself “Miami Horror.” This dude is the business, producing hot tracks for Gameboy/Gamegirl, forming a dope new, dare I say, “supergroup” with Curtis Vodka called Tigrtron and putting out some of the dopest summertime dance jams I can put my hands on. If these tracks don’t rip through dancefloor’s this summer then the internet isn’t doing it’s job properly!
Tasty Mp3’s below, find more at his Myspace: Miami Horror
Internet has been going bizerko’s over Big Boi’s new single off his upcoming solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot. In typical Andre 3000 fashion he murders every feature anyone has thrown at him (he needs to keep rapping!), and not to mention a touch of Wu-Tang (Raekwon) never hurt no’body. This track has Kanye’s seal of approval as “the hottest shit out right now!” (according to his blog).
One only wonders when OUTKAST will drop another album, or when they fall prey to the next giant music festival to be “REUNITED!”
Lupe was the first artist I ever did a major concert with, and his fanbase is bananas! Admist of all the crys of, “Hip Hop album of the year!” from backpackers when his latest album dropped, The Cool, I never fully got into the album and only thought it was mediocre. It had a handful of great tracks, its share of mediocre tracks, and a bunch of filler. From listening to the first album, the mixtapes, and seeing him live, I know this emcee is more than capable of creating amazing music.
I originally wrote off the song “Hip Hop Saved My Life” as filler, it seemed to be a tired concept to me, however watching the newly released video made me appreciate Lupe’s skill as storyteller. Hmm maybe I should listen to the album again… (and maybe thats why it seems to be climbing up the charts again… )
Oh btw, wierdly enough, Bun B is featured in this video too…and it seems to take place in his hometown of Houston, similar to Dizzee’s video. Is this what Houston does to attract tourism? Perhaps….
“Hip Hop Saved My Life” by Lupe Fiasco ft Nikki Jean.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been a Dizzee Rascal hater in my past life. And to tell you the truth I’m not particularly a fan now either, however I’m feeling Dizzee on this joint, maybe its because he slowed his flow and is alliterating more…or perhaps its because he featured with one of the souths dopest emcees, Bun B (hmm..maybe..) Dizzee’s new album Math + English is in stores now, released under El-p’s Def Jux records.
MP3 is below + the especially dope grimey video (which is always nice )
And as for Bun B his album “Trill” drops in April, and I can’t fucking wait for it!
They are the Villains. A Deejay/production trio out of Los Angeles, CA. They recently played at the HEAT Festival which me and my buddies put on at UC Riverside. These guys have been catching a ton of buzz lately, their Hot Chip Remix with the L.A. Riots & themselves was at one point the hottest track to hit the blogs. L.A. Riots did very well for themselves tail end of 07′ riding on the success of breakthrough artist like Justice & MSTRKRFT; the Villains will be the next in line to receive their share of the limelight. Tracks below:
The Roots come with a really fresh video and amazing boom-bap hip hop track called “Get Busy” . Blackthought’s verse comes off really hard over Questlove’s drums, additionally with verses from Peedi Crakk & Dice Raw + scratches by Jazzy Jeff, I haven’t been this excited about a hip-hop single in ages! The Roots are dropping a new album “Rising Down” on Def Jam April 29th.
