Remix or reworkings? I would say reworkings of classic and not so classic tunes by the band called The Remix Project (Apple Juice Kid, Matt Brandau, Brevan Hampden, Mark Wells, Dana Chell).
In the vain of El Michel’s Affair and Breakstra The Remix Project drops some heavy jazz stylings in this 22 song mixtape. With The Apple Juice Kid at the helm expect to be delighted by some smooth sounds.
“The sizzling instrumental hip-hop covers of The Remix Project–four crack jazz musicians with disgustingly developed chops–will let you enjoy the party at night and not regret your choice for a musical paramour in the morning.”

All lovers of good music and good times should make it out there and enjoy the “Sauce” one last time before it’s gone.

Aqeel surprises the unsuspecting listener with a bionic ode of funk and hop lacing a truly unique sound, juxtapose to a party in a distant galactic hemisphere. Los Angele’s native Aqeel keeps it fly with Space Station ready “Milk train”. Working with veterans such as Dr.Dre and Erykah Badu Aqeel has been writing and producing behind the scenes for a minute. “Inside The Mind Of An Afro-American Angel” is out now.

Got a pair of the first tracks to leak off the project attached below. “Dirty Beauty” is a soulful yet spacely track featuring none other than Erykah Badu, the second “Bitch Baby” is just great mood music.
update: holding off on distributing “Dirty Beauty” until Ubiquity Records gives us the clear =) wait for it… it’ll be coming back soon…

This is a great mixtape for the next time your heading out on the town and browsing for some warm-up music. It’s smooth, sexy & funky, it’ll keep your head nodding while en route to your debaucherous destination of choice. DJ Teddy King & Rugged One put it down in this with some impeccable song selection, I’ve posted a pair of my favorites below with the track listing.
Lastly, if you haven’t peeped DJ Teddy King’s Nas mixtape, Surviving The Times your certainly doing your ears a disservice. It’s a collection of material that any Nas fan would gladly pay for… but its a free download here!
