“If I share with you my story, would you share your dollar with me”
Pause and listen.. Before you make any kind of judgment. Understand that this is what we do it for.. Good music .. Good Times and yes the almighty Dollar. Los Angeles native and long time affiliate Aloe Blacc has droped another gem. “I need a dollar” is the lead single from Aloe Blacc’s forth coming album “Good Things” produced by Truth & Soul. ”I need a dollar” is a modern uptempo blues with lyrics that speak to the current economic times uplifting your spirit and igniting your hustle. This song is featuring a band know as the Expessions and El Michles Affair.
This is also featured as the theme song for HBO’s new show ” How to Make it in America”..
Im going to have the play this song out, because I have it on repeat and cant get enough of it.. Bravo to Aloe Blacc
The 12- inch vinyl for “Dollar” will be in stores April 2010 via Stone Throw Records

Remix or reworkings? I would say reworkings of classic and not so classic tunes by the band called The Remix Project (Apple Juice Kid, Matt Brandau, Brevan Hampden, Mark Wells, Dana Chell).
In the vain of El Michel’s Affair and Breakstra The Remix Project drops some heavy jazz stylings in this 22 song mixtape. With The Apple Juice Kid at the helm expect to be delighted by some smooth sounds.
“The sizzling instrumental hip-hop covers of The Remix Project–four crack jazz musicians with disgustingly developed chops–will let you enjoy the party at night and not regret your choice for a musical paramour in the morning.”

This is a rarity. A “mixtape” that is actually mixed by deejay! Mixed by Inka One no less.
From the man who brought you one of last year’ s best albums (HERE). Maryland’s E Reece just can’t make inferior music. Other than Brother Ali I can’t think of another emcee who can match his consistency. If after listening E Reece he doesn’t become your new favorite emcee something is seriously wrong with your ears.

Yep this was an exciting weekend. We had pre-season NFL Football and the return of both Roy Jones (vs Jeff Lacy) and Gina Carrano (vs. Christine Cyborg) to ring. Well to extend this great weekend a little further here is a little something to enjoy on this Sunday afternoon. Supa Qool DJ Uncle Q (from “the Best Of Raphael Saadiq” fame) has put together a great mix of Maxwell tunes. With the release of Maxwell’s new album “Black Summer’s Night” this is sure to help you realize the goodness that is Maxwell.
