I realize a lot of you may be swinging by the site because you maybe used to East of L.A. being a music blog and sharing all the goods we run across. HOWEVER before we were a music blog and until this day our backbone is live regional events/promotions and working with a fantastic group of friends & artists. If your around the area - be sure to check us out, a lot going on these days. Back to music blogging soon however! Ultimately I’d rather blog about no music than weak music.
Ps - Come to Senses - we’ll all be there maxing out!

With the release of Shock Value II quickly approaching, a video for Timbaland’s new single, “Say Something” has been released. Definitely not a fan of the song, video, and album as a whole; Miley Cyrus? Nickelback’s Chad Kroger? Jesus Christ, it’s as if Star 98.7 threw up into a bucket and Timbo felt like adding some of his tired, leftover beats from his last few projects into it. Maybe you will disagree and maybe you’ll even enjoy this video (if the latter applies, God have mercy on your soul):
Since the weekend is upon us I decided to hit you with a little something to get you in party mood.

Hmm what can I say about this song by west coast legend Rodney O? First let me give a shoutout to Mixmaster Tony G for passing the track my way. and if you don’t know who Tony G is you betta ask somebody!!!
Now on one hand it’s great to see Rodney still releasing material but this song just doesn’t work for me. As a DJ I might be able to slide this on for a few minutes during 80’s set but as a new joint I wouldn’t rock this. I suppose it was attempt at a throwback to 80’s sound refined to today’s standards but it just doesn’t pull it off. It sounds too dated for my taste but based today’s sound some of you who don’t know Rodney’s history may like the song’s club feel.
U-N-I and ORISUE had a successful party at the Viper Room a few weeks ago to promote U-N-I’s latest release, A Love Supreme. So they have decided to do it again. This time at the Kress Club in Hollywood, CA. And the best part, its FREE! ORISUE plans to give away gift bags during U-N-I’s performance at this event. So get their early and make sure to get nice and tipsy!
Over the last few years we’ve seen our share of solo female emcees, many of which dabbled in the electro-scene and raunchy raps. I despised most of them (mostly because they couldn’t rap well at all), but always had a special liking to a Ms. Amanda Blank. After seeing her rock the stage alongside Spankrock at last years Rock The Bells (which was just downright sexy), I knew home girl had a talent beyond the rest. Something has to be said for a sexy emcee going hard on her sexuality, REALLY well. “Damn did she just say that?”… is what you’ll find yourself saying while listening, Amanda manages to fill a long lived void left by the likes of Salt N Pepa & L’Trimm (Lady Tigra is amounting a budding comeback.)
RCRDLBL drops her new single “Might Like You Better,” off the much delayed new album, I Love You. It’s a club-banger and looking forward to a summer full of them from her. By the way, XXXChange is on the boards with the beat!
I try to stay away from gimmicky posts, however I’m posting this for the obvious reasons! Haha, these girls are all growed up now, tattoos, piercings and mediocre pop-music… smells like a major label pitch! Put it on mute if you’d like -or- if your digging the tune (and in my devious attempt to generate more traffic) download the mp3 below…
Brother Ali’s DJ BK One made this mix for Burlesque Design’s weekly podcast. It’s a collection 80’s,classic Hip Hop and more newer stuff. All in all it’s pretty upbeat good mix. Listening to this will indeed put you in the mood for a party. You can hear more mixes from other DJ’s HERE
