post DJ Vin Roc | Human Highlight Film Mix

November 13th, 2009

Filed under: Hip Hop, Mixtapes — Hamza21 @ 10:01 am

In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of Reebok Pump Packer Shoes has commissioned the 5th Platoon’s Vin Roc to produce a special mix for this occasion.

Also on personal note Vin Roc has made this mix as a celebration of one of the NBA’s best loved players from 80’s. The Atlanta Hawks very own Dominique Wilkins aka “The Human Highlight Film”.

I put this mix together to commemorate his career and put together some tracks that were out during his time. Kind of like a soundtrack to his life and times
Vin Roc

Now kick your weekend off right with this mix of classic tunes.

post DJ Franchise | Run This Town (Mixtape)

October 14th, 2009

Filed under: Hip Hop, Inland Empire, CA, Mixtapes — Hamza21 @ 7:10 am

A local deejay from around my way now residing in the Bay Area DJ Franchise dropped this great mix of radio friendly Hip Hop upon me. I was expecting the worst while listening but damn if Franchise has good ears for music. He selected and mixed all great joints within the mainstream Hip Hop / R&B landscape. Even if you stay away from the FM-dial like I do you will enjoy this mix, it features cuts from Kanye, Wale, Notorious B.I.G., Common & more.

post Duck Down | Download The Right Thing (Mixtape)

October 9th, 2009

Filed under: Hardcore, Hip Hop, Mixtapes — Hamza21 @ 3:46 pm

Wow, talk about shocking! A industry produced mixtape that actually has mixing on it.

At first my expectations were pretty low considering  Duck Down’s 2008 mixtape “Hotline” but this collection of tunes from Duck Down artists is pretty golden. The only exception being Kidz In Hall’s “Flickin”. Why was that song included I don’t hazard a guess but “Mixed Emotions” and “No Love” by Team Facelift more than makeup for that minor stumble.

All in all with the likes of KRS One,DJ Revolution,Team Facelift, Ruste Juxx, Blue Scholars, Oh No, Torae, Sean Price and of course Buckshot himself this industry produced mixtape is far superior than most.

Now you have give a name and email address to receive the mixtape but not all is lost. You can use a fake name (say “John Doe” or  “Dick Hurtz”) and fake email address (yousuck at yahoo.com), which is what I did. So go ahead people use your favorite celebrity’s name or make one up and grab this mixtape.
