Los Angeles based indie hip-hop label, Tres Records, founded by Chikaramanga and Thes One of People Under the Stairs, have been behind quality releases for the span of nine years from artists such as Ta’raach, Blu and notably Three Shades Brown from East of LA’s Late Bloomers. In commemoration of this milestone, along with the launch of a redesigned website, they have made available a free download with productions from Tres affiliated artists. Listen to contributions from ReallyNathan of Late Bloomers and LA based UK producer Beatnick Dee below, who’s first solo project should see release soon and features a cut with ‘Blackman Magnificent’ himself, Pheo.
Let me preface this by stating, F.olk might just be the finest producer you might not have heard of. As part of the group Late Bloomers, F.olk contributes production as well as emceeing and song writing. Recently he has stepped away from the mic for a bit, in order to focus on production, allowing him to experiment with influences from varied genres. “Pontificatin” is one of these tracks; displaying a heavy house/electronic influence, while “Angie” uses an Angie Stone vocal sample, with a heavy synth over trap drum stylings, giving the production that ‘bounce’. Both highly enjoyable songs, which if you hadn’t heard previously, introduces you to the production mind that is F.olk. Look out for F.olk’s next instrumental EP, Moving Things, set for release soon.
This Saturday, May 26th 2012, Late Bloomers present a colorful evening of live music and Twerk. Come see some of the finest musical talent of Inland Empire, CA, including Phantom Thrett, Private Stock Only and Airborne Intl with beat sets by Sean Alexander and Beatnick Dee. This will also be the release party for Nate&Folk’s new instrumental EP Always Know.

Late Bloomers will also be backed by jazz band Ultrasound, ya’ll don’t want to miss this.
Inspired by the epic announcement of Brian McKnight’s “adult” mixtape, the Late Bloomers have released a new project titled Always Know. This EP consists of 10 tracks, in which the majority are instrumentals crafted by F.olk and ReallyNathan, including a bonus remix of the Growth Series 2 track “The Giver”, which features Big Pooh from the group Little Brother.
Always Know contains a range of sounds, varying from atmospheric, bass heavy compositions to uptempo, hard-hitting beats. Adhering to the concept of having an open mind, evolving, and staying aware of one’s self, this EP serves to show the true inspiration to be found from Brian McKnight’s “adult” mixtape.
