consider this a reblog via IMPOSE Magazine:
Sleigh Bells remixed by Speak!
By Blake Gillespie » Speak! might be the 34th best rapper alive, but remixing the number one band in the world will undoubtedly raise his indie-cred tenfold - might even crack a few top 30 lists.
Sleigh Bells, Sleigh Bells, Sleigh Bells. Treats got that Best New Music tag, which puts their music into the news of the Jonas Brothers and Jessica Alba tweets. The sky probably is not the limit for bands that get this big. Sleigh Bells could be the first band to play on the moon - I think we have the technology to send them there - fuck it, if we don’t have the fuel to bring them home. It’s about the legendary status, right?
L.A. rapper Speak! chopped up SB’s “Infinity Guitars” into his “Infinity Rap Bars” (Remix) and managed to lessen the swelling in my head that pulsates on some Tell Tale Heart insanity each time I read praise of this god forsaken band. I took enough French in college, to feel as though I got something in common with Speak! when he raps, “if you ask why every store has a French name / I’ll kick you to the curb and replace you with a French dame.”

What does your mind conjure up when thinking of the name Gin Joints & Young Ivy? Another T Pain, Drake, Lil Wayne clone? Well you’ll be dead wrong.
Sweden’s Gin Joints and Young Ivy combine to deliver one of the best slept on albums of 2009. The Conjugal Visit is everything true heads expect from a Hip Hop album. That quality Boom Bap mixed with Soul music so many Hip Hop fans around world love.
Recorded over three weeks in Luleå,Sweden while young Ivy was on holiday from attending Dartmouth College. The album is quite impressive for two guys from Sweden. In era of autotune and talking over music rather true emceeing it’s refreshing (and sad) to hear people outside of the US bringing good music to the masses.

Wow, talk about shocking! A industry produced mixtape that actually has mixing on it.
At first my expectations were pretty low considering Duck Down’s 2008 mixtape “Hotline” but this collection of tunes from Duck Down artists is pretty golden. The only exception being Kidz In Hall’s “Flickin”. Why was that song included I don’t hazard a guess but “Mixed Emotions” and “No Love” by Team Facelift more than makeup for that minor stumble.
All in all with the likes of KRS One,DJ Revolution,Team Facelift, Ruste Juxx, Blue Scholars, Oh No, Torae, Sean Price and of course Buckshot himself this industry produced mixtape is far superior than most.
Now you have give a name and email address to receive the mixtape but not all is lost. You can use a fake name (say “John Doe” or “Dick Hurtz”) and fake email address (yousuck at yahoo.com), which is what I did. So go ahead people use your favorite celebrity’s name or make one up and grab this mixtape.

Now I know we have alot MF Doom fanatics out there and this is especially for you. Fellow Blogger (and DJ) Pipomixes has produced a great mix of Doom joints for you all to enjoy. Personally I can feel Zev Love X way more than Doom but sadly Zev’s forever gone.

Vinnie Paz from Jedi Mind Tricks unveils the first single from his upcoming solo album The Assassin’s Creed. “Drag You To Hell” produced by DJ Kwestion is not as rough and rugged as the usual tunes from Jedi Mind Tricks but it still has that Jedi flavor to it.

Here it is….some “new” La Coka Nostra music. Finally LCN fans have reason to rejoice.
This in the second collection of LCN related projects released by Suburban Noize and like the other release (100 % Pure Coka) most of the material isn’t new nor even LCN songs but a collection of tracks from LCN members released on other projects throughout the years. However at least we have six new LCN tunes to add to our collection. 6 out of 17 isn’t bad after all. As well as La Coka Nostra uploaded many tracks from their upcoming and long awaited album “A Brand You Can Trust” (in stores July 14th) on their myspace site:

Alexisonfire is a Canadian-based hardcore punk band that has been fusing abrasive clashing guitarwork along with curiously catchy choruses for almost a decade now. Past albums such as “Watch Out!” and “Crisis” have received multiple Gold certifications in Canada and accolades such as “Band of the Year” from the renowned Juno Awards and SPIN.com in 2005. “Old Crows/Young Cardinals” is the band’s latest full-length offering and demonstrates the band at full-force with guitarist/vocalist Dallas Green (of solo City & Colour fame) concocting some of the best lyrical and musical content the band has seen yet.
Here’s the band’s first single from the album entitled, “Young Cardinals”. Even if you don’t dig the band’s music, you’ll probably sure as hell will be impressed by the fact that they shot their video beneath Niagara Falls. MP3’s to come!
