Wu Tang and The Beatles? This combo can go either way: greatness or a complete train wreck. Fortunately UK music teacher Tom Caruana knows how to produce some quality boom bap Hip Hop. I would have never thought the raw and ruggedness of The Wu would sound so great mixed with psychedelic sounds of Liverpool’s fab four. I suppose the power of The Wu is so immense anything sounds good with a taste of the Long Island warriors.

Do you like Dilla? Do you like Nas? Well then do I have something for you. Thanks to Squeek Boogie, of the Bumsquad DJ’z, now you can both all together in one 16 track mixtape. I’m not the biggest J. Dilla fan. But before you all throw a flaming pitchfork at me, it’s because I am not very familiar with him. I have his beats on my Mac (shout out to Steve Jobs) but haven’t gotten around to listening to all of them yet. So for someone like me, or someone who has never heard of Dilla, this mixtape may just what the doctor ordered. Aside from smoking plenty of medical marijuana.
All the west coast homies will probably enjoy the first track “Nas is Like”, I know I’mma be bumping this in the whip on Sunday. “Thief’s Theme” is another banger. And “Streets of New York” rounds out my Top 3, as this track is over the “House of Flying Daggers” beat which may be my favorite beat of 2009.
I hope you guys enjoy. Peace.

This is making it’s way around the interweb this past week. A “mixtape” of A Tribe Called Quest remixes by DJ Chong Wizard.
With heavy hitters like Del Tha Funke Homospaien,Tanya Morgan, Panacea’s K Murdock, El da Sensei and Moka Only you’ll expect something more memorable. However, what you get is a lukewarm mix of a bunch no-name emcees spitting over remixed classic Tribe tunes. It’s definitely worth a listen, no doubt. Still with the name of A Tribe called Quest attached to project most would expect greatness not just goodness.
01. DJ Chong Wizard – Check The Classic (prod. by Complexxx)

Remix or reworkings? I would say reworkings of classic and not so classic tunes by the band called The Remix Project (Apple Juice Kid, Matt Brandau, Brevan Hampden, Mark Wells, Dana Chell).
In the vain of El Michel’s Affair and Breakstra The Remix Project drops some heavy jazz stylings in this 22 song mixtape. With The Apple Juice Kid at the helm expect to be delighted by some smooth sounds.
“The sizzling instrumental hip-hop covers of The Remix Project–four crack jazz musicians with disgustingly developed chops–will let you enjoy the party at night and not regret your choice for a musical paramour in the morning.”

The good folks at Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim bring to you, yet again, a sonically-pleasing and incredibly dope collection of music to enjoy. This recently released mixtape entitled, ATL RMX contains a wide selection of some heavy-hitting Southern joints along with some duds that may have you questioning if the mixtape is all that good or not (read: a Gucci Mane joint and Shawty Lo remix both rear their significantly edited heads). Never fear though as the likes of Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke and Phaseone (as well as remixes by some of those turning heads in the indie scene such as chillwave darling Memory Tapes and L.A. noise band HEALTH) make their way in as well.
The tracklisting is as follows:
1. Young Jeezy – I Got This (El-P Remix)
2. Rich Kids – Patna Dem (Mad Decent Patna’s Remix by DJA)
3. Dem Getaway Boyz – Imma G (Memory Tapes Remix)
4. Good Time Guys – Is That You God? (Dabrye Remix)
5. Young Dro – Take Off (Michna Remix)
6. Cee-Lo – Hello Miss (Armani XXXChange Remix)
7. Lil’ Jon – Give It All You Got (Ft. Kee)(Danger Beach Remix)
8. Gucci Mane – Photoshoot (Flying Lotus Remix)
9. Gorilla Zoe – Lost (Starkey Remix)
10. Kollosus – Breakin’ Bread (Phaseone Remix)
11. PILL – Lookin’ (Chris Devoe Remix)
12. Bobby Ray – Satellite (Hudson Mohawke Remix)
13. Playboy Tre – Sideways (SALEM Drag Chop Remix)
14. OJ Da Juiceman – Good Night (Ft. Gucci Mane)(HEALTH Remix)
15. Lil Jon – Give It All You Got (Ft. Kee)(Drums of Death Remix)

Ever since Terry brought up this idea I’ve been feigning for a listen. This track will kill a dance floor, but I want more Bowie! I’ll reserve judgment until the full project drops Friday.
With the success of ”Viva La Hova” and “Southerngold”… Terry Urban leaks the first single off his new remix album “Lady Stardust” which mashes up pop sensations Lady Gaga and David Bowie. Terry felt a remix project like this needed to be done with such similarities between the two pop icons. The album will be released for free download Friday, November 20th.
Mick Boogie & Terry Urban came to rock U.C. Riverside a few weeks back. Pheo & I showed the fellas around the Inland and helped rock the party. The buffoonery was documented below:

Summer is a time when the new music is dropping everywhere and sometimes new tunes just slip by bloggers like myself. For example this new remix.
Mr J Medeiros has teamed up with Stro the 89 Key to release a remix to the track “Umpire State“. This remix was originally released about a month ago but heads are just now hearing about it.
“If you picked up “The Art of Broken Glass”, (which I hope you have- legally= means I eat) then you might have noticed a track called “Umpire State”. Well, this so happens to be a remix of that track with an entirely dfferen’t spin on it. I can dig it.”
Mr J Medeiros
Something that slipped my notice as well is Mr. J released a 6 song EP entitled “The Art Of Broken Glass” back in April of this year. Two of tracks on EP I’ve already posted earlier The Measure and Love is All . Now here’s some more good music from Mr. J.
