Don’t be mistaken, the date says Sunday September 13th, 2009! The Greek Theatre (Los Angeles) presents Old School Jams Live, a concert featuring legendary hip-hop and R&B stars who pioneered this urban culture you’re living. Lisa Lisa, Ready for the World, Klymaxx, Soul Sonic Force, Kurtis Blow, Peanut Butter Wolf and Egyptian Lover are all scheduled to perform.
Young goons, this is a great opportunity to take your “rich uncle” to a show he’ll love and it may pay dividends later, trust me! To the disengaged parents out there, take this as an opportunity to show your relevance to a young generation your trying oh so hard to figure out. What better way to bridge the generation gap than bickering with your mom or dad on who gets to wear the dookie gold chain or Cazal frames for the night. If you can get pops to wear a pair of Super Skinnies be sure to send us a picture =)
Alongside the classic styled flyer comes a retro promo video:
Tickets: $35.00 ( Ticketmaster )

With Queens of the Stone Age’s vocalist/guitarist Josh Homme at the helm of production duties (a session occurring at his Joshua Tree studio) on half of the Arctic Monkeys’ new full-length record, Humbug, it’s easy to see and accept their progression in sound. On Humbug, the band, whom have since been seen with longer locks of hair (possibly a visual representation of the band’s newfound love and inspiration of the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Cream?), is seen at a new stage of songwriting especially following Alex Turner’s successful side project The Last Shadow Puppets.
Here’s the official video for the band’s first single, “Crying Lightning”:
